Real World Learning with Stenden South Africa!

The first year Disaster Management students recently visited the local Fire Department. Senior Firefighter Mbeda addressed students on the Fire Departments Standard Operating Procedures and Roles/Responsibilities within the Municipality. The crew then discussed the various equipment carried on the Rescue Vehicle and the Pumper. After that, all the students got the chance to try some of the tools. To understand the importance of the Fire Department as a stakeholder in a disaster situation.

The Fire Department also showcased their equipment, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and fleet to enable the Disaster Management students to develop an understanding of what the Fire Department as a stakeholder will be able to do during a disaster.
